I am using XP and while doing the windowupdates, something happen. Now, when
I click start, there is no "Internet Explorer" which you normally expect. It
has MSN Explorer.

When I go to the "All programs", there is no "Internet Explorer" either. It
has the MSN explorer. How can I get back my "Internet Explorer"? TIA

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:

Add/remove programs from the control panel and select Windows components.
Open it and re-install IE. Then open IE from any of the shortcuts that it
makes and when you do so it should tell you that IE is not the default
browser and ask you if you'd like it to be and if you want it to check every
time it opens. Tell it yes and set it to the default browser.

Many thanks for the responses.
Before I post the first message, I go to start/windowupdate and create a
short cut by "sending it to desktop(1)"
My point is normally you expect the IE to be in the "start menu" or when in
'ALL Programs", but mone in my case.
Galen, try your steps and it did not create any short cuts besides the one I
have describe above (1). When I use this (1) to launch it, it never ask me to
set as default browser.
Ramesh, when I type " IE4UINIT.EXE " in Start/Run and click 'ok', nothing
happen. I restart the pc, also nothing seems to change, There is no "IE" in
the start menu or in the "All Programs".

I suppose since I was able to create a short cut thru the "send to desktop"
that should be fine but just curious why its just not in start menu/All
programs. TIA

IE4UINIT.EXE creates a shortcut to iexplore.exe and places it in the Quick
Launch and Start Menu > All Programs.

Customize Start Menu? (Win,Menu,r,Ctrl-Tab,Alt-C,...)

More customization in Desktop Items dialog via Display Properties
(Win-d,Menu,r Ctrl-Tab, Alt-D)

Neither may be there if you have "removed" (unchecked) it
from Add/Remove Programs Windows Components
(Run... appwiz.cpl press Alt-W etc.)
