IE minimizes as soon as it starts, and cannot be restored
from the taskbar. When you click on the taskbar icon,
windows displays a resizing animation, but no window
appears.

Has anyone seen this behavior before? The computer is a
Sony Vaio notebook running Windows 2000 Profrssional.

Thanks for any help

Nevermind! It seems that the window size somehow got set
to 0,0. When I right-clicked on the taskbar icon and
chose "size" I was able to resize the window with the
arrow keys.

Does anyone have any idea how this could have happened?

Here's an excerpt of some previous speculation about that

I can only guess that it might be due to an aberrant pop-under.
Those things seem to have a habit of choosing strange size and
screen positions and some seem to affect the normal IE window
when they are the last ones closed. The sort of thing I imagine
it could be is somebody getting the parameters reversed in coding
size and position. E.g. if the intent was to code a position of
1,1 and a size of 600,400, reversing those could have the effect
of creating a window size of a single pixel wherever that position
would place it. Fortunately I haven't had the misfortune of getting
one of these. I try to make it a habit to always close my preferred
IE window size and position last but I get the impression that there
are ways of creating IE windows which don't show up in the Task
bar so how could you know if you missed one?
