MY daughter managed to pick up a bucket load of spy/malware/browser hijacks
the other day.

I managed to eliminate most of them with a combination of fully updated
Ad-aware and CWShredder but I've just spotted a new toolbar available in the
"Toolbars" option list.

It comes up in the list as "long up" and produces a new toolbar with various
links and a search box that links to http://srch.lop.com/search/search.cgi.

How do I eliminate it?

TIA

Google for "remove lop.com" and you will find your answer, in several
places.

To give you a head start, http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm may help...

Thanks but I don't think it's LOP. None of the registry entries and other
files that that is supposed to introduce appears to be present.

I have just found two data bits in the registry that say "long up" in the
folders
"My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Stupid.slowWindow " and
"My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Stupid.slowWindow.1"

Dose this help?

Thanks. Working my way through it now.

First, look in the Add/Remove Programs window and see if the tool bar can be
uninstalled from there. Usually doesn't work but it's worth a try. If it's
not in Add/Remove, then try these:

Download, update and use the following:

Spybot Search & Destroy

Spyware Blaster

Been there, done that. Nothing there.

Spyware Blaster

Got that now. Thanks. None of this unfortunately has dealt with the
original problem however so I've installed Mozilla (at last).

Cheers.

Tim,

Have you ran Hijack This and allowed it to remove the toolbar along with any
associated BHO's?

Okay, just done that. Where's the best place to post the log?

I've since found a new folder called "Peakhope" with a file "error
store.dll" within it. This only appeared yesterday and I'm sure its the
culprit. Deleting it has stopped the toolbar launching although it still
appears in the toolbar list. I guess a bit of registry editing is needed.

Curiously (as an aside) I've installed Spyblaster which doesn't recognise
that I've got the latest Mozilla installed. Any suggestions?

They will provide any specific guidance needed to remove lop.com
and others.

They may not have incorporated the latest version of Moz. Inquire
at the SB site.
