Hi,

Yesterday, out of nowhere, IE 6 started locking up. It seems to do it when
I try to exit. Nothing was installed or changed to my knowledge and I've
scanned for viruses and adware.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rusty

Hi Rusty,
If are sure that all clean, try to look for Error messages in the Event
Viewer and post it here if any.
You may have Memory issue as your Job reffer of a lot of graphics and design
usages for your system CPU, do you have a good graphic Video card and Enough
RAM installed to deal with all the Runing Operations.
Hope this helps
Please write back with your Findngs

Nass,

Thanks so much for your reply. This thing is driving me nuts. I have the
latest Norton and have run a complete scan. I have latest Spyware Detector
and have run a full scan.

I get 2 errors in the Event Viewer when IE hangs:

Hi Rusty,
Try to register the dlls for IE by typing this commands in RUN command:
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Msjava.dll
regsvr32 Oleut32.dll
regsvr32 Browseui.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
Then Reboot and see if the Problem will cure.
if still there, Run the Command: sfc /scannow Click Ok and wait for it ot
finish and Reboot your machine.
On how to Repair IE6 go to this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=261328
Or do system Restore to earlier date before the Error appeared.
Hope this helps
Please write back and let us know

I tried the regsrv commands -- all worked except MSjava.dll and Oleut32.dll.
These failed "specifed module could not be found". Probably don't have
related sw installed?

I rebooted. So far so good.

Thanks!!

Hi Rusty,
Sorry mess type, it is Oleaut32.dll not Oleut32.dll.
Try repeat Regirtering the DLLs all over again with correct typing and try
to install the latest Java on your system, Msjava.dll means your Java folder
corrupt or damaged.
RUN the Command : sfc /scannow press OK.
Also this Command if the above didn't help after Reboot:
Iexplore /rereg Click OK and wait for it to finish.
For the fault bucket see this:

Hope this helps

P.S try test your memory Sticks (DIMMS) if any is defective can cause this
behavior.

Hi there,I'm new to this newsgroup and I have exactly the same problem with
an Hanging Application,Application Hang IEXPLORE.EXE,Version
6.0.2900.2180.hang module hungapp,Version 0.0.0.0,hang address 0x00000000.

Nass I can see your solution but as I'm not so computer literate please can
you explain a bit further how I implement your fix,ie I don't know what you
mean by register the dlls.
Thanks Dave
