IE loads on Startup and contains an Advertisement

I find that when I reboot Win XP Pro, IE 6.0 opens
containing and advertisement. This behavior is about 3
weeks old and happens on every reboot. Where does one
look in the registry to locate the offending entry?

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
