I am trying to run the MS genuine software detection tool. It runs into
trouble and directs me to a diagnosis process. It loads an image and some
text fine but the third test is an Active X load. This fails and I am told
to go into Tool -> InternetOptions -> Security and Click on Modify. I am
thne supposed to alter the .NET settings in the dialogue - problem is that
there is no mention of .NET and no refrence as to how to fix this.

Any idesa

Hi
Just browsing for a solution for my downloading problems when I came across
yours. The following portion is from an e-mail from Microsoft Support.

Dear Cynthia,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your time and efforts are appreciated.

From your description, I understand that we encountered an Active X error
when performing updates. We cannot find the ".NET Framework-reliant
components" options. We shall be working to resolve this specific issue
through the course of the case. If I have misunderstood your concern, please
let me know.

I understand the inconvenience you have experienced. Please be assured that
I will try my best to assist you in resolving our issue.

From the screenshot, I found that error code 0x80080206 occurred when trying
to validate Windows. Error code 0x80080206 means that Internet settings do
not allow the genuine ActiveX control to run properly or user may not be the
system administrator of the machine.
