My Hompage keeps changing to a different search engine page when I start IE
up. Seems like I have downloaded somthing that is making IE do this, but
where do I look to find out whats doing it. BTW, there is a .dat file in
cookies that I can't get rid off - could this be it
TIA

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Tried the programs on that web site with no luck. using the programs I
discarded everything that I thought had something to do with IE and problem
persist.

Thanks everyone for your input. Seems it may be sorted now - fingers
crossed.
CWShredder seemed to have cleared it up. There should be a law against
playing around with peoples computers...I'm pretty sure I haven't accepted
any files that would cause that.
Again thanks for all the help.
