A site put one of the startpage variants into my PC - Panda caught this,
but wanted servicepack 1 to replace the modified file (registry entry?)
didn't have it at hand, and had to let file pass.
However, need to fix this now - I assume registry entries have been messed
with to
misdirect IE, can't even use google or yahoo now! Anyone know what to do?
Would re-installing I.E work?

Thanx

Managed to find a js.startpage file - now that is deleted, I get the start
page I
want, but yahoo.com and google.com give a blank page, so presumably
something in the registry is still wrong, I assume it has blocked these off,
(yahoo.co.uk is alright)

No, it isn't alright, it's switched back again, if I ever get my hands on
anyone
who does this kind of stuff I shall dismember them slowly

Switch browsers and stop driving yourself nuts.

Try these free programs and see if they don't help.
Download,install,update and THEN run:

AdAware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Spybot Search & Destroy
http://security.kolla.de/

Spyware Blaster
http://www.wilderssecurity.net/spywareblaster.html

If you can't fix it with these, try coolwebshedder (google for it)

if you have issues with google.com / yahoo.com not working check your hosts
file in x:\windows\system32\drivers\etc ..

load it into notepad and look for entries concerning formentioned sites..
and delete entries if you find em

or check if you have some dodgy proxy set up in internet options/connection
settings
