John

I am also having trouble clearing IE history. When the
entries are cleared using IE Options, they reappear. I
reinstalled IE and this did not help. Entries can be
cleared individually by deleting the entry or by going to
the history folder in explorer. Can anyone help with this
issue.

John,
With no IE windows open, try it from Control Panel> Internet Options>
General> Clear History.

You might need to delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be
created on restart.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Another program might be locking your history.

The ActiveX filter of McAfee (and possibly other) anti-virus programs can
interfere with the history function of IE. Just disable the ActiveX filter.

Hi John - To delete ALL Addresses in the Drop Down list, go here and
download and install Mike Burgess' DelTypedURL.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm See below for Selective Delete.

You can also get DelSearchMRU.inf at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelSearchMRU.inf

Note: this does not remove entries entered via AutoComplete. To remove
hidden AutoComplete entries in History:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm#AutoComplete

IMPORTANT NOTE: Be sure that ALL instances of IE6 are CLOSED before you do
the install of this(these) .inf files.

A nice alternative just for selective or all Address (not Search) history
maintenance is EditURLs, here: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/ Here also,
you must close ALL instances of IE6 for the deletions to "take".
