What is the name of IE's history file, and where can it be found? I've
been struggling for a week now with the about:Blank issue. I have the
"trojan loader" that seems extremely detectable, yet totally
undeletable.

Thanks!

What OS?? Under 2k/XP it's normally in

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings

called .. wait for it .. History. However you can't play with it like a
normal file if you are logged in as yourself (you can do anything you
like to any other user's copy, so log in as some other admin user and
scrag it from there).

What's the IE History have to do with your machine being compromised by a
malware program? I'll tell you -- nothing. If you're having problems with
something that keeps coming back on your machine after you have deleted it,
then some other process/program is running on the machine and is bringing
it back. The process could be hidden and piggy backing off of another
process/program such as IE or something else or could be a standalone
program that you don't recognize as being a threat.

You can use Process Explorer that will allow you to look at all running
processes/programs on the machine and look inside those running processes
to see what processes/programs are using them.

Maybe, you'll be able to spot something. You may also want to use Firefox
that's much like IE and is free and is less exploitable than IE and use
Firefox for your everyday surfing and use IE when you have to use it.
