When I'm on the internet I frequently get this error
message and when I click ok it closes IE. I have no clue
why this happens. Could someone please tell me how to fix
this very annoying problem? Thank you.

Scott

Did you open an attachment from a bogus message?
If not then please post your complete and exact error message.

This is probably caused by the Swen.A virus.

And from Michael Jennings we have:

The BitDefender repair tool, available at the bottom of this page:
http://www.bitdefender.com/bd/site/virusinfo.php?menu_id=1&v_id=158#
will fix being blocked from regedit. I guess it gets the rest of Swen.

McAfee's stinger gets a variety, including Swen:

This site has tools, but there may be a long download delay:
