IE hangs when preforming specific function

Hello. I've been having this problem for the past four days (since about
1:30PM 8/29/06). I had spoken with a friend of mine that was having the same
problem about a half an hour before it started for me (bad karma).

I'm running Windows XP, 1.59 GB, 384MB RAM, 66% free space, from an HP
laptop, with IE 6. Whenever I open an IE window, it works fine, but if I try
to open a window from the main browser window (say something like this
pop-up, or try to post a message on MSN groups, or right click a link in the
window and click open link in a new window) the new window will hang when I
try to close it. If I open a totally new, "fresh" browser window, the new
one will work fine, no problems, I can open as many new windows as I like,
but if I open a window from a window, the second window freezes, hangs, and
refuses to respond. When I go into my system stats, it will sometimes show
that the CPU has jumped to 100% but not always. When I right click on the
hanging window and click "Close," I have to use the "End Task" function,
which closes out the hanging window, and the one that it was created from.

As I said, this is a very recent problem, and I haven't installed any new
hardware/software to the computer since April, and it never gave me a problem
until August 29. I do run Windows Automatic Update which gives me my service
pack updates and what not. I have scanned my computer with Mcafee virus
scanner/spyware scanner and have a fire wall, all of which are updated almost
daily. Nothing has come up as spyware or infected. This is really
frustrating, and any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

that also happens to me. but not always. sometimes this happens.
sometimes the right click meny disapears completely.
