My Internet Explorer works fine right now but when I
install: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer
6 Service Pack 1 (KB832894)from the automatic update my
Internet Explorer hangs when trying to access certain
websites. After I installed this update, and I found
this problem occuring, I restored my computer back to the
point before installing this service pack and it works
fine again.

One example of this problem occured when I tried to go to
Roxio's website and download an update. It would load
Roxio's webpage at first but when I tried to click on the
download it would direct me to a new browser and the
browser would just sit there clocking. It never stopped,
I left it going for a couple hours. But after I restored
my computer back before this update I went to Roxio's
website again and this time when it directed me to the
new browser it worked fine. This has happeded to quite a
few other websites as well, not just Roxio's. Can any one
help? Sorry I wrote a novel, but I figured all this
would help.

Thanks, Jason

Check if anything is interfering with IE. Disable any firewall, ad-blocker,
popup blocker or anti-virus.

Check your security settings in IE and see if anything has changed.

If no joy, then leave 832894 off. Some updates do not work with some
computers.

I'm having a similar problem aftter installing KB832894. When I click on
certain links, my entire computer locks up. I am not running any firewall or
plug-ins for IE.

I am having similar problems. Is this service pack 1 you
are talking about? When I look at add remove programs, I
do not see this service pack #832894, but I do see a lot
of subelements labelled Windowa Hotfix and then Windows
Hotfix SP2 (which probably includes SP1). Is it well
known as to which subelement is probably the offending
one, so I can uninstall only that? There are about 20 of
these hotfixes installed on my XP machine. It seems like
thousands are having similar problems.

Thanks,
G
