Recently, I've experienced periodic "hangs" with IE6 on
exit. System is Windows XP Pro. I first noticed a
dramatic slowdown in computer performance and checked
Windows Task Manager. I discovered there that
iexplorer.exe was using 95-98% of CPU even though I had
exited the browser. It doesn't happen every time, but
often (roughly one in three times).
The problem is recent, in the past few days, and it may
only be coincidental, but I believe it began after
installing an automatic Windows security update, though I
couldn't say that for sure.
I have tried re-installing the latest IE version (6 with
SP1), but it doesn't seem to be fixing anything. I've
had no previous significant problems with Win XP or IE6.
Any ideas?
