Hello,
About a week ago IE began hanging whenever I tried to
visit a new site. Links work fine. Full URLs work fine,
however if I type www.microsoft.com IE does nothing.
After about 10 seconds an hour glass will appear and not
go away until I kill the application. If I enter
http://www.microsoft.com the site will open immediatly. I
have cleared my cache, deleted all of my temporary
internet files, killed all my cookies, tried turning off
3rd prty extensions. All have failed. I can use a
different profile on my system and have none of this
trouble.

Please help!

Thank you,
Ken

Ken,

I had the same problem as you have now. I used one of the
methods described by Leboeuf and now everything is working
again.

Go to http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Find section: Various Registry Fixes

Download "RepairDefaultPrefix.reg"

To use: download - right-click and select: Edit to view in
Notepad.
Right-click and select: Merge - to enter the info into the
Registry, and reboot.

Note: always backup the Registry before making any
changes. Also be aware these reg files are intended for
stand-alone or home users. Corporate users are urged to
check with their network supervisor before removing
restrictions.

This should hopefully work!

Good luck!

AH
