IE Freezing when closing a new window

My Internet Explorer freezes when I close a new window
was opened from a link in an active window. It does not
occur with pop up windows but only links that I have
activated.

I noticed the same problem a couple of days ago. I don't have a
permanent solution, but here's a temporary fix that seems to work for
me.
1. With an Internet Explorer window open, click a link that opens in a
new window.
2. Collapse the new window to get it out of the way, but do not close
it.
3.The original window can now be safely used.
4. As long as you do not close the new window, the freezing problem
will not happen again.
