I keep having trouble with my IE 6 freezing when I try to delete the
temporary internet files and cookies. Any suggestions. I've already done
everything the error report suggested, Norton can't find any viruses, my
Windows defender can't find any spyware and I have updated my Yahoo toolbar
as suggested plus all Windows updates. This is a new problem and I'm ready to
tear my hair out.

See if this helps...

"How to clear the History entries in Internet Explorer".
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260897/en-us
"How to Delete the Contents of the Temporary Internet Files Folder".

Try also...
CCleaner (freeware), from http://www.ccleaner.com/
About CCleaner, courtesy of Sandi Hardmeier - Microsoft MVP: "
Be very very VERY careful with CCleaner. We are seeing a lot of problems
with that software removing hotfix data making it impossible to uninstall
IE7 and any
other hotfix/update."

And Free History Eraser (deletes also index.dat files):

The History folder can be deleted manually:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Then set your IE cache (TIF folder size) at about 50/60 mb.

If you have a lot of files for some reason it takes Windows a long time to
delete them. You can either try and wait or delete chunks at a time.
Just out of curiosity, when you highlight all the files in the folder, how
many does it say are selected down at the bottom left of the window?
CleanUp! is also a decent, freeware program that will rid your computer of
temp files.
