IE forms and OE slow

P

Poptart

I have a Pentium 3 with 384MB RAM
Windows 98SE SP1
IE 6 with all updates

Two days ago I ran ad-aware to get rid of a bunch of junk.

Now I'm having the problem with IE forms. When I type in
them it shows up very slowly. Also when I click on the
search links (such as yahoo) it takes a long time to
follow through. OE is also very slow to open now.

I found articles in the knowledge base about the pstore
files and the imagehlp.dll. I've done both of these
repeatedly with no success. I've rerun Ad-aware. I'm
running Norton Internet Security.

Any other suggestions?

These are the articles I have used so far:

Delayed Response When Editing Internet Explorer Forms and
Outlook Express
May Take a Long Time to Start
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q251/7/87.
ASP

***Note : At the end of this article it says to search
for the pstore.log and if it is found there may be a
problem. I did find the log. I followed the
instructions. Nothing happened. Should I have deleted
the pstore.log file ?

HI Poptart - In IE6, Tools|Internet Options, on the General tab, click
Accessibility, then uncheck "Format documents using my style sheet".

Check your system for "hijackware".

I highly recommend using HijackThis

assist in the removal of these bad guys. **Post your files to

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

Between my last post and this one:

I have used the CWShredder. It found one instance and got
rid of it. What I read about this instance did not
include the problem I'm having however. Also I never had
the problem it stated the CWS would cause. lol

I've also run Spybot S&D. It didn't find anything more
really than ad-aware did.

Still same problem.

I'm in the process now of downloading the hijackThis. I
will run it and post results in the spyware forum. Maybe,
hopefully, this will yield some results.

Thanks.
