IE Fonts

I just got a new computer and of course Microsoft cant get a standard
installation to be usable without playing around in the *.ini files. That's
just great for the amatures isnt it?

The fonts in IE for links come up in a way that has them distorted due to a
wide screen. There is a way to change a setting in an *.ini file (if I
remember the extention correctly) to set the fonts so they are actually
readable. I did this once about a year ago, but cant find the post now.
Does anyone know the file and what setting to use?

For those of you with high end computers (Microsoft is obviously still in the
stone age -- try unix), here is the answer that I got off of a Dell Forum.
This works, but the concept of people having to change the registry (rather
than an *.ini file) is nightmarish. You should only change the registry if
you know what your doing, and therefore, you would know where to find the
registry edit software.:

Changing this setting in IE 6 did not work for me but as suggested by forum
user Clarifix in software forum - I changed registry setting

HKEY_CURRENT_ USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INTERNET EXPLORER\MAIN\USEHR

The setting for this key is (Hex) 1.

After changing this setting to 0 and using DPI = 120 the problem of viewing
distorted images in Internet Explorer is gone.
