Whenever I go to close Internet Explorer it gives me the error message that
there was an error and it has to shut down.
This is the third post I have posted, people are telling me post somewhere
else. I don't know where to ask the question, I thought anything related to
IE would work.
But anyway, can anyone help me out here why IE does this every time. I will
even be on a different program and it will shut down.
Thanks.

Okay, I went to some of those websites and I am more confused then ever. I
do have spyware, adaware, spybot, Norton, so I think I am pretty protected.
This started when I first got IE. So I am figuring I have some setting
wrong somewhere.
Thankss.

Hi PattiChati :-)

If you have these programs, you need to update and run them as Don
suggested. Their being there does not protract you against all forms of
scumware that can get on your system. They are not actually preventative
programs, they are detection and removal tools for adware and spyware, thus
their names. If you have a malware of some sort on your system these
programs alone can not detect or remove them, thus, unless you use the full
scope of detection and removal tools Don provided and clean your system, you
likely will not get your machine running properly again. Also, doing a
repair or reinstall of your Windows program will *not* remove the scumware
from your hard drive, and could in fact make things worse.

I urge you to follow Don's suggestion and fully clean your system of any
scumware. If you have any questions, or are not sure of any steps along the
way, just post back to this thread and the great folks here will be very
happy to guide you through the process. :-)

Ok..here I am....red faced and all.......to correct my big boo boo. I
referred to Don instead of Siljaline in providing the removal information.
My apologies to all......my one-cell hit an air pocket between the ears
somewhere. <sigh>

I went to the windows help in reinstalling Internet Explorer, and after
reading most of it, I don't think it is something you want to mess with. I
have Windows XP service pack 2. It doesn't sound like an easy thing to do.
Any other ideas? I have already run all the spyware and adware and all of
that stuff. I do that on a daily basis.
Thanks.
