Over the past month or so, I have recently been having
problems with IE where a window appears indicating the an
error has occurred. I have the option of either sending
or not sending a report. In either case, the end result
is that IE closes and I have to start all over again. I
have had several updates arrive when I get on-line, which
have been downloaded and installed with no apparent
resolution to my problem.

Rick... how have these "Updates" arrived? The notification tool or by some
other means?

Sending the "Error report" won't get you any personal reply or fix, as far
as I know it's just a demographic thing so MS can tell which of the problems
needs attention first and which bits of the system the most recent update
broke.

I am having the same problems after several updates were
installed via Windows Update. I was told by Microsoft they
are aware of the problem and there is no solution. I am
now using netscape until they release a new version.
Suggest you do the same.

MS does not (never ) sends updates my mail.
If you have opened and run these then you are infected.

Run your Virus protection with the latest file definition table.
