IE error message

I get the following error message and can not find a fix.
internet explorer has encountered a problem and must close

If you did not install any software recently then your computer may have
been hacked.

Remove all the parasites on your computer.
Delete all the spywares and bad BHOs from your system.

I downloaded the Spybot-search and destroy and after
running it the internet and email works fine. I am very
greatful for your help.
