I downloaded IE 6.0 sp1 from the web last week and now my
IE will not work at all. When I click on the open link, I
get a message that IE has encountered a problem sorry for
the inconvenience. Are they kidding, I cant get on the web
through Explorer and they are sorry for the
inconvenience!! How the hell do I fix this? do I have to
delete it and try to reinstall it again from another
source? I tried to reinstall from the web site but that
did nothing. Same problem and the error report is as long
as my arm. Can anyone help. There must be someone out
there smarter than the wack who put up a defective
download from Microsoft. Oh and get this, I have to PAY
for support to try to fix the problem they caused. Can you
believe the nerve? Leave it Microsoft to frig up a
perfectly good program.

Hi,
This is probably being caused by third party programs- malware/parasites.

From Control Panel> Internet Options> Advanced> uncheck "Enable third party
browser extensions." That should allow IE to work.
You should re-enable browser extensions after the cleanup.

You might also be able to browse and download programs from the address bar
of Windows Explorer.

Then, work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.
