IE does nothing when I open a link in a new window

I'm using Win XP Home Ed. with IE 6, both are fully up to
date.
A few days ago, when I'd open a link in a new window, the
new window just sits there doing nothing and stays blank.
The busy mouse icon appears when I hover over the title
bar as if to say its doing something. If I copy and paste
the link to a new window, it works, so its just IE being
a dumbass.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this? Its really getting
annoying.
Thanks.

Hi,

Try this:

1. Click [Start] [Run] type:
(Press Enter after each command)
Regsvr32 /i URLMON.DLL
Regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll
Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
Regsvr32 /i oleaut32.dll
Regsvr32 /i shell32.dll (For XP Only)

2. Restart Windows
3. Open IE [Tools] [Internet Options] [Programs] [Reset
Web Settings]

If this does not help, run this fix:
http://mvps.org/sramesh2k/utils/IEFix.exe

Hey Ramesh,
The 'oleaut32.dll' command said it could not be
initialised or something, but I did the rest anyway and
restarted then reset the settings and now its working
properly again.
Thank you very much!
The problem was on my laptop, and last night when I found
this support page, I tried to post a question, but of
course it opens a new window, so it was just staying
blank and therefore I couldn't post a question.
Thank you for your very speedy response. You're obviously
very good at your job!
Cheers,
Erik

Ramesh,

He's right! oleaut32.dll doesn't have an entry point called DllInstall.
Only DllRegisterServer (and DllUnregisterServer).
Therefore you should advise regsvr32 without the /i switch for that
module.
