IE does not work

Out of the clear blue yesterday, my Internet Explorer
stopped working. Within 10 seconds of double-clicking the
icon, a webpage would load and be quickly followed by an
error message saying that Internet Explorer encountered a
problem and needed to close.
When I went through all of the error reporting stages
(which is a joke, as nothing I have ever reported has
resulted in a solution), the only solution I was told was
to go through some site called IGetNet at this website:
www.pestcontrol.com/msigetnetsupport.asp
So, I go to this website and do everythig I am told to
do, including downloading some pest control software that
I now cannot get off of my computer, and still no
solution.
So then I try system restore, and that doesn't work. Then
I try to uninstall and reinstall internet explorer, and
that doesn't work. I have now downloaded every service
pack available, done everything imaginable to get IE to
work again, and nothing has worked.
So I have a PC with no internet browsing capabilities
(other than through AOL somehow) and no way to fix it.
Updating the software, removing the software,
reinstalling the software off the original disk - nothing
has worked. Norton Systemworks can't find any problem,
either, but it's now been two days and every time we open
IE, it says it has to close 10 seconds later.

This could have been a virus attack or similar - you don't supply much
information. After all you've done (how did you uninstall IE6)?) it would be
best to do a 'kill and build'. Format your h/d and reinstall from scratch. I
think you have gone too far in your attempts to fix it.

BTW - Keep away from this 'IGetNet' - it is adware and not easy to remove.
