IE does not work when my VPN is active. I use Outlook and
telnet to access my corporate e-mail and mainframe
through a VPN. I had this same setup under 98SE and it
worked fine. The difference now is I am running wireless
using a Linksys router on a new laptop running XP. The
second I disable the VPN IE works. I also noticed that
any e-mail having links or pictures from the Web do not
show up in the e-mail. If someone sends me a link IE will
start, hang, and then tells me it can't find that
address. I am sure there is a box checked or something
stupid. I have spent hours on this and am very
frustrated. Please help. Thank you.

I'm not sure if this is relevant to your case, but under
network connections: right click your
VPN icon /properties /networking/ "tcp/ip" /
properties / advanced / on the general tab, untick the
box for "use default gateway on remote network"

if this box is ticked, then when your vpn is connected,
your computer will try and use the remote computers
gateway - this only works if that computer/server is set
up for external routing. Clearing the tick box will allow
the vpn to connect, whilst still allowing your computer
to use it's own gateway for internet access
