IE does not seem to process java script from one website www.smsc.ca -
everything else shows OK but not the nav buttons. Another (XP Home) machine
connecting to Internet through problem machine (XP Pro) works just fine. Have
run system file checker (SFC) - everthing OK. Have tried all steps in article
"How to Disable Active Content in Internet Explorer" 154036 - no change. Any
ideas?

1. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

or

Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools |
Internet Options and click Delete Files.

2a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

2b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 2a and 2b, see
http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers_9.htm)

3. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

5b. Find the hijacker that caused 5a to be checked (or if none were checked,
check for hijackware anyway):

Frank,
After I did step 2a and 2b, the nav buttons showed up on my local host IIS
version of the website but not on the internet website. I maintain a copy of
the website locally but send the html to the host for updating the internet
site sms.ca

I tried all of step 3 with no luck.

Re step 4, I am not getting any error message.

Re step 5a, I unchecked the box, rebooted with no change in the display. I
checked my other computer that connects through the problem computer, and the
nav buttons are displayed with the box checked.

Re 5b, I regularly run Ad-aware and believe my system to be clean. BTW, I
am also running Symantec's Personal Firewall if that means anything.

So, part of the problem is fixed (Thanks!) but I still can't see the nav
buttons on the internet site.
Ed
