IE default site option keeps getting over-ridden

I keep setting the default site which I want to come up
when running IE by using the Tools-InternetOptions-General
options setting, but it keeps getting set to some other
site (which I dont know of) when I close IE and restart
it. Does anyone know why this is? Is it some type of
spyware or virus?

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
