A pop-up window tells me that ie has encountered a problem
and needs to close. The Error Signature is:

Appname: iexplore.exe
appversion: 6.0.2800.1106
modname:winmm.dll

Could anyone help?

Frank

The file is probably corrupted. You can repair it by using
your original Win CD. Go to Start, Run, type sfc /scannow
(note the space), click OK. You will be asked to insert
the CD. Your corrupted file will be replaced with the
original one.

Hi Ray,

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, "scannow" was not
recognized as a valid parameter. Could this have anything
to do with the operating sys.My os is win98.

Yours,

Frank

You have IE 6, make sure it's not caused by a parasite.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
