I am using IE 6 SP1 with ALL the latest updates witha fully updated XP Home
SP2. I just started having this problem today for no reason. Whenever i try
to download a file of any type (aka right click... save as...) the download
window pops up and doesnt even get to the part where it allows me to choose a
spot to save the file. It immediately stops responding and i have to end the
task. This works when saving any file under any circumstance. I have run a
spyware and virus check...nothing. I have run a chkdsk...nothing. Can someone
help me fix this! Thanks!

This is Paul V, but i am using Google to continue posting. Yes i do in
fact have XP SP2 an IE6 SP1. But i have been using SP2 since my last
format (over a year ago) and have not had this problem until just
recently. The last thing i installed was Windows installer 3.1 and ever
since i installed that, my downloading has been messed up. I
uninstalled the new Windows installer but that didnt fix it. I found
out that if i make a shortcut to the file i want to download and then
run the shortcut it will give me the option to run the program or save
as. If i choose Run then it downloads and runs completely fine but if i
chose to save as, then it freaks out and crashes. Would re-installing
SP2 fix the problem or is there an easier way to deal with this?
