Hi all,

I hope someone can help me. I recently completely re-installed my
laptop (an HP Pavillion zv5200). As far as I know I did everything
right and "by the book". [I installed XP SP2 and all patches, among
other things...]

IE, however, is giving me some problems. I can successfully load the
following page on Rotten Tomatoes. However, if I do a <Ctrl>-F (for
search) and type in a search word (like "test") and click the "OK"
button, IE immediately begins to consume all of my CPU resources and
brings the machine to a crawl. The only way out is to kill the process.

Can I ask a favor? Will a few folk be so kind as to open this page and
try a search. I am very interested to see if others have the same
problem.

Any ideas as to the cause? [I have disabled ZoneAlarm, GoogleDesktop,
and any other programs I thought might have been the cause. No luck,
though.]

Thanks much,
Greg

Same thing happens here. Large page, lots of images and elements (>330K).
Must be some coding on the page that screw things up. When I did a Find on
that page, CPU usage went to max and when I tried to close the Find dialog,
IE hung up cold.
So, it's not your machine, it's the page, so I wouldn't worry about it. :-)
