Hello:
I have Windows XP SP2 IE 6.0. I was on a website reading an article and all
of a sudden my screen went blank then blue with this on the blue screen:
First it gave me Tech info: STOP: 0x0000008E (0x0000005, 0x00000000,
0xF3B05CE8, 0x00000000)
It gave me instructions on what to do it it were to happen again and can
provide that if needed.
I have been getting a virtual memory is to low message which I don't
understand because I have 256MB Ram and not using near that much. I had just
cleaned my cache, cookies and for the first time in a while my history, ran
anti-virus, spyware removers and thought things were ok. Well, not ok, it
seems my computer has been very slow for a while. I have such bad luck with
computers.
I would appreciate any suggesstions or help.
Thank you:

Hi Bonnie,
Assuming that you *only* have stop-error messages to address and no Spyware,
start here -
'Troubleshooting Windows Stop Error Messages'
http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm

Good luck!

Hi silj:
Thank you very much for your response. I went to the site you provided and
I'm not totally sure if I understand how to translate these codes but I found
one that started with mine, the 0x0000008E. It said the kernel mode
generated an exception which the error handler didn't catch. It said it is
usually always a hardware compatability issue. It could be driver issue or
my BIOS needs an upgrade.
Well, if I have a hardware issue, does that mean it would be something that
I have downloaded like off of a CD? I can't think of one thing I've done
except just updates. If it is a driver issue, I went to check out my windows
tools to diagnose the drivers but it said I needed my windows cd. This is a
refurbished computer from Dell and they did not send me a CD, said I didn't
need one but if I did to contact Dell. If it is the BIOS, can't I upgrade it
from dell website? I about ready to get a new computer and if I do, it sure
won't be a Dell computer. I am always having some kind of problem. I don't
know if I am infected or not. My scans usually always come up with some kind
of spyware but I remove them, of course they come back again. I clean my
machine very often.
I appreciate your help and I know it isn't easy to help someone over the
internet as it would be in person.

Hi Bonnie,
While some single or multiple stop-error messages are not that difficult to
troubleshoot - numerous ones could mean that your refurbished machine
needs a re-install of Windows.
You could contact Dell and ask for a diagnostic CD, though, it may not help.
Option is yours, have your machine repaired at a small reputable PC shop
or, as you say, buy a new machine.

You are very welcome for the help and I wish you luck!
If you should have further questions, please post back.

Regards,
Silj
