IE crash on not found web site

Whenever I encounter a web site that would normally
return a not found error message (e.g., if I type in
adhfakdfhadf as a URL), Explorer crashes and gives the
usual "Explorer has ecountered a problem" message rather
than just reporting the error message. Has anyone else
seen this? I am not sure what caused this to start
happening. Since then I have installed all the Explorer
updates, including Service Pack 1 today, and I still see
the same problem.

Thanks.

You could have a problem with IE's AboutURL's

Try typing the following url in your address bar

about:navigationfailure

You should see the Web site not found error message displayed.

If not use the IE6Maintenance utility to repair IE.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

or:

SpyBot-S&D

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
