Last week my Internet Explorer started crashing. It seems to happen
immediately after I burn a Cd or RIP files through Windows Media
Player. I am using a Dell optiplex GX280, 2gb RAM, IE version 6.0
2900.2180 sp2. Media player is version 10.40.36. When this happens I
am forced to shut the computer down with a hard reboot. A soft reboot
or restart never works. I have tried ending the ie processes to no
avail.

I haven't installed software or hardware recently.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?

Thanks!

No clue!!!!!
Reinstall Internet explorer
insert the windows install cd
start – run – and type:

rundll32.exe setupapi, InstallHintSection DefaultInstall132
c:\Windows\inf\ie.inf

hit enter

Remember to keep your computer free of malware....
