IE constantly closing

Mikeee

I have read all the posts and tried everything on a fresh
(no toolbars, no spyware. . .) XP Home (SP1) installation
and still get the error:
mshtml.dll 6.0.2800.1141 when it constantly closes by
it self.

Funny thing is that i have another similar machine that i
had built with an XP Home OS (minus the SP1 version) with
all the hotfixes since and shows no problems at all.

Getting ready to breakdown and actually call microsoft???
Just posting this to see if it helps jar anything for all
the folks with the exact same issue.

Thanks,
Mikeee

"mshtml.dll 6.0.2800.1141" indicates you haven't installed "all the
hotfixes" on *your* machine, Mikeee.

With your anti-virus application disabled the entire time, please go to
Windows Update and install Q818529 (at least).

Thank you, for your response ..sorry that was an older
error the current one i'm getting is:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName:
mshtml.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2800.1173 Offset: 0018d3d7

thanks again,
Mikeee

Yes, Q818529 is installed, it is listed when i bring
up "about IE". No toolbars installed, only software
installed after fresh install is office 2000 and all the
critical hot fixes. .have also run adaware just in case.

thanks again for your efforts,
Mikeee

Do your versions of Urlmon.dll and Shdocvw.dll agree with those listed for
your OS at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=818529?

Did you update AdAware's reference files before using it? Have you run
Spybot and/or BHO Cop? Visited this page: http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/
(allow page to load)?

This certainly isn't definitive advice but your Mshtml.dll version 1173 may
be the problem.

Q818529 should leave you with version 1170 but you, probably voluntarily,
installed 1173 (a fix for the earlier version 1140 but not for everyone).
You may want to try rolling back to an earlier version (e.g., 1126 or 1106,
see http://snurl.com/1tqz ) and then install 1170 via Q818529.

Your other machine that's working is running IE6 w/out SP1 and is therefore
*not* using Mshtml.dll version 1173, I'd say.[/QUOTE]
