IE connection

I recently replaced my ME operating system with the XP. On the ME I could
click on an internet icon and the computer would connect with my ISP. Are
there settings on the XP that I can change to do this?

You haven't provided enough information. For instance, how do you
connect to the Internet (method and ISP)? Does the hardware work
(either the ethernet network adapter or dialup modem) or do you need to
install drivers? Does your ISP provide specialized software to connect?

It can be very hard for a non-technical person to know what to include

I have dial-up modem, same as used on ME, I can connect to my ISP,but not
by clicking the IE button.
