IE connection to java corrupt

Rose

I can't get IE to recognize that I have Sun Java loaded on my computer;
Mozilla, on the same computer, recognizes it. I don't use I.E. much, but
this is annoying and if anyone can tell me how to solve it, I'd
appreciate it. Under Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, I do have Sun Java
checked, but when I try to access anything that uses Java, it pretends
like I don't have the applet. If I click 'Sun Java Console' under Tools,
nothing whatsoever happens. I'd like to uninstall and reinstall IE to
see if that fixes it, but I can't see how to do that and I don't know if
it's even advisable. Any ideas for me? TIA!

As you did not post the version of Windows or IE you are using, I can only
make a general guess. You might try the following and see if it helps:

please check whether internet explorer is checked under
browsers tab or not.

try restoring internet explorer defaults and reset web
settings of internet explorer

I have the same problem. I was reading the posts on the
Knowledge Based guide on Java's site. I think the problem
might be with older versions of some sort of the code on
the websites we are trying to access

Thank you, Narendra -- IE was checked under the browsers tab and I reset
my web settings, but no luck. Any other ideas for me?

Thank you, Jan! Oddly, when I go to that javascript testing site in I.E.
(btw, I'm using XP and 6.0 -- sorry I failed to mention that first time
around), it says my browser passes all the tests. This didn't really
surprise me because I have Sun Java checked in the Tools/Internet
Options/Advanced tab. I have SP2's firewall turned off, as I use
Norton's, so that can't be what's blocking it. That's why I say I think
something is corrupted, because all indications are that java is enabled
(it certainly works fine on the same computer in Mozilla, which is what
I usually use), but when I go to sites that use java using IE, I get the
message "java is not enabled in your browser." Any other ideas for me?
