IE closes on fault when use keyboard

An intermittent problem occurs such that when IE is
opened, it will operate normally but as soon as I press
any key on my keyboard, I receive the following
message: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It
also asks if I want to send an error message to microsoft
which I do, but when querried, microsoft has no
explanation. After rebooting the computer a few times,
the problem goes away for a while.
