I keep losing my default home page and this crap globalwebserch.com
takes it's place.
is there a way to block this?

Also I have a toolbar item that I do not want and it keeps coming up.
also this global crap.

Is there a way to dis-allow from sites changing my default settings and
stop all this crap?

Your system has most likely been highjacked or some spyware has gotten onto
your system. Use either Ad-aware or SpyBot to get rid of the problem, both
are freeware.
Get Ad-aware here: http://www.lavasoft.de/
Get SpyBot here: http://spybot.eon.net.au/index.php?

I agree wholeheartedly with Nick. You are suffering from a
scumware problem which is where a third party has attached
a piece of software to your system which has the ability
to control certain aspects of your system. In this case
it is forcing your browser to a certain homepage and
probably also tracking your browser activity and reporting
it back to its homebase. SpyBot really does a nice job in
keeping these types of problems from invading your system,
much better in my opinion than Ad-aware. I've used both.
