ie can't work

hello...
to make it short..err...
my friend is using internet explorer 6 with its default
settings
and a few days ago my ie cannot function as it usually
does
what i meantersay is it can't open any websites whatsoever
however my kazaa is still working
moreover he obtained this message everytime the windows
logged in

"generic host process for win32 services"

generic host process for win32 services has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information
you were working on might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem

bla bla bla

then there was "To see what data this error report
contains, click here..."

when he clicked he found this..

Error signature:
szAppName:svchost.exe szAppVer:5.1.0.0

szModName:svchost.exe szModVer:5.1.0.0
offset:000013db

and many things said down there which is not necessary to
be written here
my other friends said the 'generic host process for win32
services damages' caused the main problem
please help my friend...

Have alook at the settings of your firewall as i'm sure
you have one ,switch it off to see if it makes a difference
