IE cannot find server but ping gets out???
all settings seem correct
any idea whats going on?
XP PRO IE 6.0

When did this start happening?
Was any new hardware or software installed?
Do you currently have Service Pack 1 installed?
What kind of Internet connection are you using?
Cable? DSL? Dial Up?
Is there a router or third-party firewall program?
What exactly do you mean when you say that ping gets out?
From the command prompt window what happens if you run:
C:\>ping google.com
Do you get 4 replies?
If not, do you get 4 replies from:
C:\>ping 216.239.37.99
If Cable or DSL what happens when you run:
C:\>ipconfig /all
What IP address do you get?
What happens if you then run:
C:\>ipconfig /renew
Do you get an error message?
If so, what exact error message?
