IE cannot find Adobe Acrobat

I cannot open pdf files unless Reader is open at the same
time. I checked to make sure reader was checking IE and
the box is checked.

I had the same problem. I removed Reader 6 and reinstalled it - and
then it worked fine. Go figure!
 
I have the same problem but in my case, I removed and reinstalled reader 6 and it still won't work...any other suggestions?
 
Sounds like your file association for PDF files has gone bad. In control
panel select folder options. Open file types. Scroll down to PDF. Is it
associated with acrobat reader? If not highlight and hit the change button.
Reassociate with Acrobat Reader.
