Forgive me if this is something you've already tried, but... have you tried
looking under View/Text Size on your browser menu and seeing what
that's set to? Try setting that to different things (Largest, Larger,
Medium, Smaller, Smallest) and see what happens.

Also check Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Options/Accessibility
and see if that's set up the way you want. (Normally, I'd recommend
UNchecking all the checkboxes on that page, unless you're viewing
a page that grossly misuses style sheets, in which case you can
use those settings to turn style sheets off.)

Also, check the screen resolution and system font sizes on your machine.
(Right-click your desktop, select Properties/Settings. Check screen
resolution, then click Advanced and see what's in the "Font Sizes"
control. Unless you're running a really small monitor (say, a 14" monitor
with 640x480 resolution), I'd recommend setting that to "Large Fonts",
else your fonts will actually be too small.)

I have on very rare occasions seen video card drivers do this. Why only IE I
don't know for sure except that IE does do some really fancy graphics stuff
that almost nobody uses and therefore can hit the drivers pretty hard.

After trying everything else that's been suggested you might see if new
drivers were installed in an update or if there's anything you can connect
with the start of this problem.

Personally I think the most likely is accidental changing of IE font
settings or an accessibility option.
