IE blocked pop-up window in application programs

I am new to Win XP, my ie in XP blocks pop-up windows in application programs, including aol. I cannot view the popups to use the programs

How can I remove the blocking of 'useful' popups in ie in XP?

ccr, i read somwhere that AOL uses its own pop up blocker, maybe somehow
this is screwing things up in other areas.. hope someone can be of more
help. rob
