I am running windows xp with sp2. The background color on every website I
visit is white. The text is also very large. I have tried decreasing the
text size but it still stays the same. I went to a website and the
background colr is supposed to be blue but it shows up as white. Even
msn.com shows up as white background and I have clicked on the classic blue
link. Is there any thing I can do to fix this?

Thanks for any help.

Hi sc :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Background Colors or Images Are Not Visible on Web Pages in Internet
Explorer
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=277008

Colors settings that you choose for text, background, and links are not used
by Internet Explorer 6
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;843516&spid=2073&sid=global

Control Panel> Accessibility Options> Display. Make sure that High Contrast
is not checked.

f you have a wheel on your mouse, hold down the Ctrl key and move the
wheel. This may get your fonts back to the size you want.

Also.

Check in IE>Tools>Internet Options>General tab>Accessibility

For normal viewing nothing should be checked in these sections. Also check
the setting in Control Panel>Accessibility Options>Display is set to Windows
Standard and make sure the High Contrast is not checked.

Other possibilities at http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers/53.html

Try disabling any third-party security/privacy programs you have
running. A program such as Norton Internet Security, a firewall,
ad-blocker,
etc. might be involved.

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or Yahoo, disable
them. If you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it. If you have any 3rd party
software, popup or ad blockers, disable them.

Hope this helps.

Wow! My father has been having this problem as long a he can remember. Of
course he didn't know it was a problem. He thougth that's the way web pages
looked. I kept telling him that's not the way things are supposed to look.
I've tried for weeks to try and find the setting that made things "normal"
again. It was that little check box for high contrast, under Accessibilities.

Thank you for this great service!
