Whenever I use Windows or Microsoft Update, IE opens up another IE
window and launches to some junk sites. If I surf to any other web
sites, then this doesn't occur. I have already set up block pop-up
windows at highest level in IE, and searched my system for trojans.
Where could information to launch these junk sites be stored in IE?

I tried about ten various programs, between anti-spyware such as
Spybot and Spyblaster, to anti-malcious software like Ewido and
Windows Defender, to antiviral program like Symantec antivirus, and
HijackThis. It's detected nothing in safe mode. The sites are launched
ONLY when I open Windows or Microsoft Update. It doesn't happen with
anything else. These web links must be kept somewhere in IE in order
to be launched. Is there other places I should be checking in the
system?

What is the url of your HijackThis log at one of the specialty forums?
Post it so we can take a look. If you ran HJT yourself and did not post
it at one of the forums (not here, please), then you should do so.
