IE and Outlook 2003 freeze when viewing HTML

I'm having a strange problem with Internet Explorer and the
problem seems to also be afflicting Outlook 2003. Whenever
I open Internet Explorer for the first time, it'll hang for
about 20-30 seconds before eventually displaying the page.
It's not simply a delay in opening the page, the entire
browser stops responding, with a Not Responding message
appearing in the title bar. The same thing happens when I
open html emails in outlook 2003 as well as any html based
help file. Anyway, have any idea on how to fix this
problem? Thanks in advance.

.I experienced the same problem. I finally download two
internet explorer patches from microsoft updates,
Q831167.exe abd Q832894.exe and explorer reverted back to
prompt responses without hangs.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

IE 6.

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
