Is there any way to uninstall Internet Explorer 8? (If so what do I replace
it with?) It's impossible to download the Screensaver software from
Webshots because of SOME setting in IE8 and the only thing I know to do is
to uninstall. I keep getting messages that the problem is with the Internet
Explorer so don't think it's a firewall or anti-virus program. Help!

You're certain that Internet Explorer 8 is causing your problem...or
just guessing?

Maybe you should ask Webshots technical support for help?

No, I'm sure it's Internet Explorer. I've had error messages that mention
IE. I must have something checked that shouldn't be in Internet Options.
The tech support for Webshots isn't much help. Been there many times.

Leonard, after going to Webshots and opening many windows at their site I
saw several error messages that warned me of what I finally decided was
ActiveX controls that IE was trying to protect me from. I don't need or
want their protection. Would like to go ahead and install Active X. Will
work on that next.

Good luck.

As John Gilliver said in his reply; simply install Firefox then download your
Webshots software without the need to uninstall anything.

You can then go back to using IE8 and if you get another similar problem - just open
your Firefox browser instead.

If you have two browsers on your PC then if you have a problem with one the other may
well not have that problem.

When I say install "Firefox", there are a number of good alternative browsers
available :

Firefox 3.5 :

Google Chrome :

Apple Safari (for XP) :

Opera 10.10 :

Yes. Go back to the readme file or go to the site for the details. You'll
end up back at IE6 when you're done; it was always there, and you don't have
to do anything but remove IE8 per the instructions found for it.

It doesn't sound to me that IE "mentioned" makes it surely an IE problem
though. I've a feeling something else is going on, so don't be too surprised
if going back to IE6 doesn't help it, but it might if you've accidentally
added the site to your never-allow list. Can't hurt to try it; it's easy
enough to reinstall.

Thanks, Singapore, I finally installed Firefox and was able to DL and
install Webshots screensaver software. Don't like Firefox so well, however.

Hello,

See

[ How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8? ]

Or you can just install Firefox - http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ - and
run it alongside IE8.
