Hi all
I'm on dialup (rural Australia).
A few weeks ago automatic updates took a long time to download and then
asked if I wanted to install IE7. I said no at the time because I was
working on an important project and didn't want to have to deal with any
possible issues caused by installing new software.

I gather that IE7 installation files must now be on my pc somewhere and
I do NOT want to have to wait for them to download again. I also want to
check out IE7 as I've heard so many complaints about it (I use Opera).
Is it possible to get IE7 installed now without re-downloading it?

I haven't even gone into Windows Update to see because it's all just too
slow. (I know that sounds slack but dialup is wearing VERY thin and I
don't have $100/month to spend on the only alternative, satellite.
Whinge, whinge, wine, wine :)

Thankyou for your time.

Hi,
Go to Folder Options> View and make sure you can see hidden and system
files. Search the computer for the file
IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe Running that file should install IE7. You may have
to go to Search> Advanced Options to make sure that hidden and system
folders are searched.

It's strongly recommended that antivirus/antispyware programs be disabled
when installing IE7. See other tips at Known issues - Internet Explorer 7:
http://www.ie-vista.com/known_issues.html

Hope this helps,
Don

Thankyou. I'll give it a try when I get off the net then.

Thanks. That's part of the reason I want to install it so I can try and
help friends who are having problems. Thanks for the link, that is going
to come in handy.

I can't find a file of that name or any part thereof so I will bite the
bullet and toddle off over to windows update.

Thanks for your help though.

suggest going to MS looking up IE7 pages and downloading the COMPLETE file, instead of doing the update.
