I took the update to IE7 on my wife's computer and she hated it so I
uninstalled it as recommended. Now IE 6 would take minutes to load the page
or hang. There was an error message 101 in event log. I tried an ASR of the
system I had recently done and all was OK except for IE 6 still hanging. I
tried a repair install of Windows XP SP2 and at 33 and 27 minutes it hangs
and say's it can't copy the file. I tried another copy of the I386 folder on
a brand new disk and 2 different cd's on the computer and it still hangs. I
went file by file to the older SP1 copy I had and it said it was an older
file do you want to overwrite it. I said no to all and every few files it
does the same thing and when I put it to the SP1 disk it deletes a file and
copies 1. I did this at least 50 times and I'm still at 23 minutes
remaining. I have a copy of the system from before on drive image and
WIndows ASR backup. No matter what when I reinstall those the IE 6 hangs.
The new IE 7 icon still appears. Any ideas on how I can fix this without
having to wipe the drive and do a new install? I had tried doing a IE 6
install and it would get to a certain point and ask for files like the XP
install and it wouldn't accept them even though it found them and they were
grayed. I need help please. Thanks in advance.
